About the Ashley Foundation
It is generally recognised that ‘the homeless’ are a disadvantaged group within society and that homeless individuals are often discriminated against.
Discrimination is the result of prejudice, ignorance and apathy. It denies human dignity and the freedom for individuals to be themselves.
We are a registered homeless charity, established in 1997 for the purpose of providing accommodation to ‘persons in need’. We have three hostels in the Blackpool area (Oak House, Elm House and Holly House) and one in Blackburn (Union House), as well as eight move-on flats (Birch Lodge and Cedar Lodge).
We are committed to treating individuals with dignity and respect. The Foundation is determined to offer individuals the opportunity and the support necessary to encourage and enable personal growth and self-development, regardless of their; gender, marital status, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, religious belief, disability or political allegiance.
Previously we were just accommodation providers, but had always recognised the need to provide practical and holistic support to our residents. We do not just offer a room, food, heat and light and the recent introduction of the Government’s Supporting People Initiative has meant a welcome and effective addition of extra support and resettlement assistance for each of our residents via a team of committed support workers.
